A good deal of function has been accomplished more than the earlier number of several years to switch the X-ray devices at the various security filters, with the initial check remaining carried out again in 2015. Departures 1 has been renovated and is now fully operational and completely ready for summer time 2021, with 21 protection lanes equipped with CT scans.

“This is a world 1st. Good news for travellers since they are no longer expected to consider their liquids and electronics out of their bags when going by safety. It’s also good for security staff members. The CT scan lets them to check baggage on their screen in 3D and even rotate it 360 degrees.” says Hedzer Komduur, deputy director of Security, Protection and Setting at Royal Schiphol Group.

The 21 protection lanes at Departures 1 can now easily be joined up with the 14 lanes at Departures 2. With each other, these 35 security lanes form just one of the world’s largest protection filters, outfitted with point out-of-the-art technology built to make the process more successful. If it gets to be crowded in Departures 1, travellers can go through Departures 2 and thereby improve circulation.

Tips

Travellers are continue to proposed to pack liquids (and gels) in their hold baggage, and only carry bottles/containers of up to 100 ml in a resealable and clear bag in their hand baggage. Bottles/containers exceeding 100 ml are only allowed if approved by the CT scan and member of security personnel. Also, limitations on liquids in hand baggage however use at most other airports, which could trigger issues on a returning flight or throughout a transfer.
