Finnair to deepen its cooperation with Juneyao Air

Finnair and Shanghai-based Juneyao Air have signed a Letter of Intent to deepen their cooperation among China and Europe subject to necessary regulatory approvals.  

The intention is to set up a joint venture on the Helsinki – Shanghai route enabling Finnair and Juneyao Air to offer their corporate and leisure customers a seamless journey experience through a wider option of destination, schedule and fare options via their major hubs, Helsinki Airport (HEL) and Pudong International Airport (PVG).

Having the important step to evolve this into a deeper cooperation focused on our Shanghai and Helsinki hubs will let us to not only provide our existing buyers even superior, but also to lay a platform for further more growth in the potential, the moment the aviation market starts to normalise”, says Ole Orver, Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair.

Juneyao Air launched its route from Shanghai to Helsinki in July 2019, and since then both Finnair and Juneyao Air have been code sharing on each other´s Helsinki-Shanghai routes and on picked routes from Helsinki to Europe and from Shanghai to other places in China. A reciprocal agreement for Finnair Furthermore and Juneyao Air Club member was also carried out in August 2019, allowing customers to make and redeem miles and details in the course of each partner’s complete network. 

Once carried out, the joint venture cooperation will enable significant further more expansion of codesharing across the networks of both partners, particularly to crucial details driving Shanghai Pudong and Helsinki, as well as the introduction of enhanced positive aspects for repeated travelers.
